The LBBC Annual Lunch at the House of Lords was attended by the Libyan Charge d’Affaires and 120 members and guests representing Libyan and UK businesses, the UK Parliament, the Foreign & Commonwealth Office and the Department for International Trade.
Our distinguished guest speakers were:
- Mr Tarek Osman, Associate Director and Senior Political Counsellor from the European Bank for Reconstruction & Development (EBRD) Governance and Political Affairs team
- HE Frank Baker CMG, HM Ambassador to Libya
- Sir Henry Bellingham MP, recently appointed Prime Minister’s Trade Envoy to Libya
Mr Tarek Osman described the role of the EBRD and Libya’s relationship with the Bank; Ambassador Frank Baker brought us up to date on the political, economic and security situation in Libya, underlining the British Government’s strong support for the National Oil Corporation under the distinguished leadership of Mustafa Sanalla; and Sir Henry spoke of his plan to support bilateral economic relations following his appointment as the PM’s Trade Envoy.
The LBBC would like to thank Lord Trefgarne, the speakers and all members and friends for joining us on the day.
